#SkillsForLife

Roebuck Explorer Scout Unit is based in Buckhurst Hill in Essex. Part of the Royal Forest District, we are linked with the 2nd Buckhurst Hill (28th Epping Forest) Scout Group.

We are a group of 14 to 18 year-olds who, together with adult leaders, have a lot of fun doing a whole range of lively, adventurous, creative, character building or just plain crazy activities - and making great friends in the process.

We have the backing of the largest youth organization on the planet - the Scout Association - which gives access to more opportunities than you can ever take up in one life-time, so we offer you the chance to participate in a flexible way that suits your life style.

We meet regularly every Sunday evening in term time and, in addition, have a regular programme of camps and outdoor activities.

Training scheme

In addition to the fun and the activities we work towards the Scout Association's award scheme leading up to the Queen's Scout Award. We also have our own award scheme, The Baden Powell Scout Award, which recognises excellence in traditional scouting skills.

Young Leaders scheme

Of immense value are the leadership skills and experience gained in taking real responsibility for running activities with younger people. The Unit is linked with 2nd Buckhurst Hill Scout Group with whom some of our members work as Young Leaders. Young Leaders are supported with a training programme tailor-made for their role and their own personal development.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Another great opportunity we can offer. If you’re developing a couple of decent hobbies, and you’re helping the community by being (for example) a Young Leader, then why not have this recognized with an Award? And the best bit is that we will help you and your mates organize yourselves to go off independently on your own expedition.
